FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can serve as your own registered agent if you have a physical Alabama street address and are available during regular business hours. Most business owners use a professional service to keep their personal address off public record and ensure consistent availability when legal documents arrive.
Alabama requires all LLCs and corporations to file an annual report alongside a Business Privilege Tax return each year. The due date is March 15 for all entities. The minimum privilege tax is $100. URA sends reminders before the March 15 deadline.
Failing to maintain a registered agent can result in administrative dissolution or revocation of authority to do business in the state. This removes your liability protection and can have serious legal and financial consequences. Reinstatement requires fees and additional filings.
To change your registered agent, you file a Change of Registered Agent or Registered Office form with the Alabama Secretary of State. Once you place your order with URA, we handle this filing on your behalf.
Yes. If your out-of-state company has employees, offices, or is doing business in Alabama, you must register as a foreign entity with the Secretary of State and maintain a registered agent in the state. URA can serve as your agent here and in your home state simultaneously at the same flat annual rate.
Your service renews on the anniversary of your order date. We will send a renewal reminder at least 30 days in advance. Failure to renew may result in URA resigning as your registered agent, which would require you to designate a new agent to maintain compliance with the state.
